Would placing the dining space closer to the kitchen make it more convenient to move back and forth? Would the free space at the window in the bedroom allow you to squeeze in a small study at the front? Where is the plug in for the TV? That might give you an idea how to organize your sitting area.
You just got the keys to your new apartment - now what?
First, walk around your new space and think how you might best live in it. Put the kitchen and bathroom aside, because in Singapore they are usually fully furnished and do not require any immediate action. For the other rooms, have a good tour to get an idea of which rooms make the most sense for which purpose.
Then comes the tricky thing: do nothing! Obviously, unpack the essentials, but put aside any other plans for now. Spend at least a few days or even weeks, simply living there to see how your new home works for you. Note how you use each area, how the light falls in certain spaces, how you are moving around, and if there are any annoying places. Get your partner or family members to do the same and share their experience. During this process a clear picture begins to form.
Now, as a reward for your patience, you can finally start thinking about how to furnish and decorate your space.
